Este libro fue recomendado por la revista Entrepeneur.com como uno de los libros clave para llevar las ideas a la realidad. Es una compilación de artículos de Jocelyn K. Glei donde se estudia los temas de administrar el día, establecer prioridades, eliminar distracciones y adoptar un sistema más eficiente de trabajo diario.

Los artículos y entrevistas tienen en común algunos patrones en sus recomendaciones, siendo el más repetido el tema del uso nocivo del e-mail y las redes sociales en nuestras vidas actuales, en la necesidad de alejarse de los dispositivos y del problema de estar constantemente bombardeados de información, lo que nos fatiga mentalmente, reduce nuestro foco y capacidad de respuesta a los objetivos más importantes.

La primera parte “Construye una Rutina como Roca Solida”, sigue los mismos consejos que se exploran en libros que ya reseñe, especialmente el del “Poder del Hábito”, y “Talent is Overrated”.

En resumen, se aconseja usar la repetición, establecer ritmos, horarios específicos, y hacer una administración de nuestros niveles de energía durante el día.

La segunda parte “Obteniendo foco en un mundo de distracción”, profundiza en el tema de los ambientes modernos repletos de agitación y cambio rápido. Se critica el mito del multitasking el cual es muy difícil de lograr, y de la importancia de un tiempo en soledad para obtener claridad.

En la tercera parte “Dominando tus herramientas”, se busca un uso consciente de las redes sociales y se critica el uso excesivo de las “extenciones de la comunicación” como son todos los equipos electrónicos. En este tema es especialmente interesante las citas a las teorías de la comunicación de Marshall McLuhan: “Todo es un deseo de nuestro deseo de comunicación”.

En la cuarta parte: “Afilando tu creatividad”, en esta parte tratan la creatividad y su proceso desde el punto de vista del estilo de vida necesario para dejar espacio al pensamiento superior que representa la generación de nuevas ideas. Me gusto el capitulo donde se invita a dejar de lado el perfeccionismo, y también sobre la insistencia en que lo fundamental es tener motivaciones intrínsecas a la creatividad.
